PROJECT SUMMARY

The Mold Vision Protection System verifies part condition with every cycle. MVP is a complete solution featuring advanced machine vision technology and is optimized for injection molding applications.

THE CHALLENGE

When injection molding small components in multi-cavity tools, it is extremely important to verify that every component is properly ejected at the end of each machine cycle. Any parts or material which get stuck in the mold or ejector can cause serious damage to the mold when it closes. This can be very expensive and causes unnecessary downtime.

Traditional through beam sensors are difficult to set-up and prone to failure. These arrangements tend to be a lot of work for the production and maintenance teams to keep in operation.

An easy to set-up and reliable solution is needed in these production environments.

THE SOLUTION

BHS Robotics selected an advance machine vision technology to ensure parts are properly ejected from the mold at the completion of each cycle. The vision system can also inspect over-molded parts to verify proper seating and alignment before the molding process begins.

This solution easily integrates into an injection molding machine control systems to eliminate crashes and reduce downtime. The system is customizable for a variety of mold and part arrangements and can even be monitored remotely to ensure the system is always performing as intended.

BHS Robotics provided the expertise and a comprehensive technology package including camera; controller; lens; lights; mounting brackets; cabling; operator touch screen; and machine control interface.
